この度、S.Y.P Art Spaceでは辻梨絵子の個展 – Fictionality – を開催します。写真や映像を学ん できた作家は、近年日本と他国を行き来し、メディアの影響や役割、文化の差異やそこから生ま れる誤解・思想の移り変わり、また距離のある人々とのコミュニケーションについて考え制作を しています。 

「インターネットやテレビ等を通じて見る世界は、良くも悪くも演出されているものだと思います。 土地や人々の本来の姿を知らないまま、メディアを通してのみ見聞きしたものに対する知識は当て にならない。画面に映っているものは切り取られた一側面で、取り上げられるものだけが全てで はない。日本人は毎日寿司を食べてないし、忍者も街中には歩いていない。」 と語る作家は、今回自身が体験した「ネット上での世界戦争」から着想したインスタレーション 作品を、ギャラリーとギャラリーを中継映像で繋いだインターネットスペースの二つの空間にて発表します。 

SNSやビデオ電話で地球の裏側にいる人間ともすぐに連絡を取れる現代で、いかに他者との実際 の距離感や皮膚感覚を失わず、そして画面の向こう側にある物事の本質を見極めることができるか、多方面からの視点を持った展示を通して鑑賞者に問いかけます。 

S.Y.P Art Space is showing Rieko Tsuji’s solo exhibition – Fictionality – 

Rieko Tsuji has been studying photography and video art and is currently interested in the influence of media including television and the internet. She has frequently travelled abroad in recent years, and so is also researching misunderstandings due to cultural differences and communication through social media and video calls between people who live far apart from one another. 
In Tsuji’s word, “The world on the TV and laptop screen are not showing the real world. It is risky to believe the information you receive from the media about other places and people. The screen can only show one perspective, and it is one-sided. Japanese people don’t eat sushi everyday and unfortunately ninja rarely walk in the streets of Japan.” 

For this exhibition, Tsuji made installation works based on her battle with her experiences on the internet. That work is also broadcast through online video streaming to allow the audience to appreciate it via their phones and laptops. 

Are we losing the sense of distance, privacy and touch while using the internet which enables us to talk with others who are on the other side of the world? How can we really ascertain what is happening on the other side of the screen? In this multi-faceted exhibition Tsuji presents the audience with a series of provocations.
